2D Blast Furnace Profile Meter Sensor MWS-45RF-P2D

General

Adoption of milliwaves allows a great reduction in the size of the opening in the blast furnace.
There is higher iron production while consuming minimal amounts of coke.

MWS-45RF-P2D Blast Furnace Profile Meter is an FM-CW Radar type Milliwave Range Finder. Developed for a two-dimensional profile measurement of charging materials (coke or iron ore), the sensor consists of a controller, antenna, adjustable reflector, enclosure, local control panel, and valve.
The antenna and the adjustable reflector are installed in the enclosure. Milliwaves transmitted from the stationary antenna are continuously reflected and scan from the center to the edge of the furnace. The scanned position and the distance to the material are transferred to the local controller to make a 2D profile. The profile is displayed on a personal computer.
By using this profile information, the surface of the materials can always be controlled, so as to keep a desired concave shape. Greater charging control results in more stable operation of the blast furnace and improves its reaction efficiency. This enables fuel conservation and increased longevity of the furnace.

2D Blast Furnace Profile Meter Sensor MWS-45RF-P2D

Features

All problems associated with lance measurement systems will be solved

High speed 2D measurement allows for better control of charging materials.

Measures the layer thickness of the coke or iron ore upon each charge, resulting in higher iron production while consuming minimal amounts of coke.

The profile can be taken in between each rotation of the charging process. (minimum measuring time: 5 seconds).

Compact size and light weight lower installation and operational costs.

Unaffected by adverse conditions

Milliwaves are unaffected by heat, flames, dust or vapor.

The controller and the driving mechanism for the adjustable reflector are installed outside of the furnace. Unaffected by the heat and pressure of the blast furnace, maintenance can be done easily.

High accuracy and reliability

±30 mm accuracy (Target: Iron Ore or Coke)

Employs the rotary milliwave technique in spite of the large frequency sweep: false measurements caused by double-reflected waves are eliminated through the use of rotary milliwaves, i.e. secure measurement close to the wall of the blast furnace.

Stable measurement even when the surface of the coke/iron ore is sloped.

Due to the high S/N ratio, the sensor provides stable measurement even when the reflection from the target (coke/iron ore) is very weak.

High response speed

50 msec. update time.

This allows prompt control of the loading of materials into the furnace because the profile for each revolution of the rotary chute can be taken.

The operational state is shown on your personal computer

It displays the FFT spectrum, the received signal and various preset values.

The received signal, FFT spectrum and the measurement data are continuously displayed. This displayed data can be recorded and reviewed in real or accelerated time.

Use of the recording and reviewing function allows the system parameters to be optimized offline.

The display indicates, and the controller outputs, the internal temperature and any abnormal conditions (i.e. a lowering of received signal power, over heating in the controller and communication failures).

A 2D profile is displayed on the PC.

Convenient built-in functions

A reference point and the required range are easily preset.

Compatible for use with a personal computer.

Communicates with a personal computer by RS-232C.

RS-422 digital output terminals (outputs distance, receiving power level, temperature and alarm).

4-20mA analogue output.

Power supply AC90~240V, 50/60Hz.

Comprehensive stand alone system

No additional hardware/software is needed as all signal processing is done in the controller and local control panel.

Light and compact

Compared to the lance method of detection.

Adoption of milliwaves allows a great reduction in the size of the opening in the blast furnace (450mm x 150mm).

Easy installation

The sensor fits easily with the blast furnace.

Maintenance Free

The valve separates the sensor from the blast furnace.

By closing the valve, maintenance can be done, even during operation of the blast furnace. While the blast furnace is not operating, the sealing of the valve can be changed when the valve is open.
